Golden beaches, turquoise waters and azure skies Lake Sainte-Croix: the jewel of the Verdon

In Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon, on the water’s edge, the beaches are made of gravel. Popular in summer, they are easily accessible from the car parks just next door. Ideal for relaxing with family or friends, they are equipped with toilets, picnic tables with trees and mostly shaded. There are many beaches and coves, and for greater safety, in July and August there is a bathing area on the main beach, supervised from a lifeguard station.

This is where you will find our various watersports bases that welcome you from morning to evening, from spring to the end of September. The watersports activities are numerous and allow you to practice sailing, catamaran in sport mode as well as in relaxation mode. It is possible to rent electric boats, pedal boats, canoes, etc. and even take lessons by registering for sailing, rowing or paddleboarding courses with the L’école de Voile sailing school. Choose the option that suits you best. But whether you come with your own equipment or are looking to rent it, the professionals here will always help you to enjoy the best lake experience possible.

Boats with combustion engines, except for rescue boats, are not allowed on the lake. So you will rarely be disturbed by noise. However, if you are lucky, you will be able to watch the “aerial ballet” of the Canadairs and water bomber planes of the Sécurité Civile which will carry you in their wake along the water…A life-size show!

Fishing passion

The lake’s vastness and the diversity of its coves and beaches make it a delightful land of adventure for fishermen. Underwater, pike, zander, trout and carp, among other species that inhabit the waters of the lake, can sometimes reach colossal sizes.
Fishing is open all year round on the Lake of Sainte-Croix for pike, zander and rainbow trout. But for other species or for certain types of fishing, authorisation periods are defined in order to allow the species to reproduce.
Enthusiasts love this unspoilt setting.

Stand Up Paddle An active change of scenery!

An original, easy and affordable way to enjoy the lake is to use a Stand-Up Paddle (SUP). Don’t know what that is? At the origin of modern surfing, it is an activity that consists of standing on a large board. A board, a paddle, a leash (the rope that connects you to the board) and a flotation vest are all you need to see the world like you’ve never seen it before!

You might think that this is a seaside activity, but in fact it is not. For the record, Olivia Piana a pioneer and world champion in the discipline, ranks Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon among the 5 best spots in the world! We therefore recommend that you try it out.

There are paddles for rent on the beaches of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon. Consider an hour or a whole day, as you wish. Whether it’s a short trip or a longer excursion with departure recommended in the morning, you can use the paddle from April to September to explore the coves and enjoy the tranquillity of the waters and the breathtaking scenery.
